Pennsylvania Governor Wolf Appoints Altman as Acting Insurance Commissioner

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has announced that Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller has been appointed as the new Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Jessica Altman has been appointed the Acting Insurance Commissioner. Jessica Altman has been Commissioner Miller’s Chief of Staff since June 2015.  She has a bachelor’s degree in policy analysis from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard, John F. Kennedy School of Government.

From 2010 through 2013, Jessica Altman worked for the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, the arm of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that set up the Affordable Care Act public exchange system and ran other commercial health insurance programs related to the act.  She is the daughter of Drew Altman, the president of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.
